1. Lemon juice: 
Lemon is a good natural cleansing agent and at the same time,antibacterial. Thus, it removes any bacteria build up causing itchy scalp. The well acidic nature of this fruit balances pH levels and provides relief from itching, scalp dryness and dandruff.
  • You can simply apply fresh lemon juice thoroughly on the scalp.
  • Leave it for 5 minutes
  • Wash off your hair and rinse again with water and a teaspoon of lemon juice.
  • If you do not have dandruff, dilute the lemon juice in water before massaging on your scalp. (Optional)
    Repeat this process twice or thrice weekly until the itching disappears.
2. Aloe vera: 
Aloe vera contains moisturizing properties, which relieves excessive dryness and itching. Its enzymes remove the accumulated dead skin cells while the amino acids stimulate growth of healthy tissue.

  • Squeeze the gel from aloe vera leaf and apply onto your scalp.
  • Leave it for 15- 20 minutes then wash it off with mild shampoo and water.
  • Repeat this process 1-2 times weekly and say goodbye to your dandruff and itching scalp.
3. Bananas: 
If like me you like eating bananas, then you will also be happy to know that bananas can also treat itching scalp. In fact, they treat your scalp while also conditioning it. Awesome right?  Actually, the nourishing and moisturizing properties inflammation can help get rid of dandruff, flakes and inflammation.
  • Mash some bananas and mix them together with a ripe avocado fruit.
  • Apply the paste to your scalp and hair.
  • Leave it for 30 -45minutes and rinse thoroughly.
  • Repeat this process weekly for better results.
4. Onion juice:
 Onion is well rich in antibacterial and anti-fungal properties which greatly relieves from itchiness caused by dandruff and ringworm. Its essential nutrients like sulfur, magnesium, potassium, vitamin. B6 and C cleanse and nourish the scalp.
  • Grate or blend 2-4 onions to extract juice from it.
  • Massage the juice or paste on your scalp thoroughly
  • Leave it for 30- 45minutes and rinse with mild shampoo and water.
  • Note, undiluted onion may cause some sort of irritation in some people. If you are one of those, I recommend you to rub some olive oil or coconut oil on your scalp before applying the onion juice.
5. Baking soda: 
This is another readily available home remedy to itchy scalp. it helps relieve itching by exfoliating the scalp and controlling dandruff caused by overactive fungi.


  • Make a paste of baking soda and water and massage on your scalp.
  • Allow it for 20-30minutes then rinse thoroughly with water.
  • For better results, rub some olive oil on your scalp before applying the paste
